October Update

October Update

The design team have been working diligently over the last few weeks to get all of the final design information together and as a result we’re now ready to formally start the process of selecting a contractor.

Contractors will be invited to tender next week and we expect that process to last somewhere between 6 and 8 weeks.

As a result we should be in a position to name a contractor well before Christmas and our ambition is for works to start on site in February / March next year.

Demolition of the Existing Athletic Club

In order to build the new hub a good portion of the existing Athletic Club needs to be demolished first. The sketch below shows how much but we expect to lose the lounge bar, ‘red room’ (as was), old squash courts and entrance lobby very early in the new year. [Everything above the line on the plan below]

Capture

There is a plan to keep the club operational during the build but we will be down to the main hall, kitchen and former snooker room so you will have to bear with us.

If you’re a current user and you have any concerns then please speak to staff.

You can see a few images of the new Hub below but a reminder full drawings and plans are also available at here

What’s this about the Library moving to the Hub?

Pembrokeshire Council are exploring options for Neyland Library and Contact Centre as part of their ‘Access to Services’ project. One option they are exploring is to move the currently Library provision to the new Hub. There’s more on that here.

As always, we’ll keep you posted every step of the way. In the meantime though, if you have any questions, concerns, issues or suggestions please do get in touch.
