Neyland Community Hub Development

Since 2002 there have been proposals to replace the aging Neyland Athletic Club building with a modern new community centre.

These proposals have long been stalled but since the end of 2013 significant progress has been made toward a new development. 3 key hurdles were overcome in 2014;

Land has been purchased to allow the very slight but necessary re-positioning of the 1st XV Rugby Field.

The Changing Room and Gym Complex has been completed by Pembrokeshire County Council (reducing by as much as £500,000 the cost of building a new community centre)

Neyland Athletic Club has re-structured and agreed to lease the building (long term) to Neyland C.I.C. This represents the first step in transferring responsibility for the building to the wider community.

and with those hurdles overcome we are now pushing on at pace. During the course of 2015 we have;

– Engaged Acanthus Holden of Pembroke as Lead Design Consultants to develop firm proposals for the project.

– In May 2015 Neyland Town Council agreed to become formal partners in the scheme.

– Final designs went to a public consultation meeting in August 2015
