New Solar and Battery Storage project at the Hub

19 Jan 2025

Installation is now complete of an additional 35KW of solar panels (bringing the total installed at the Hub to 55KW). In addition to the new solar panels, 27 KWh of battery capacity is being installed, which will allow the Hub to benefit from the solar energy generated well into the evenings.

Neyland CIC would like to thank both Community Interest Care and Valero for their generous donations toward the cost of the project (£12,000 and £10,000 respectively) and also recognise the contribution of the UK Government funded Shared Prosperity Fund which is provide a 50% grant toward the costs.

We anticipate the new system will provide the majority of our peak summer electricity and between 30% and 40% of our total electricity requirement each year.

In addition to the electricity bill savings it’s estimated the project will also reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 5.7 tonnes per annum. This will greatly improve the sustainability of the Hub for the future.

Thank you to Preseli Solar for their hard work and professionalism in completing the project.
