New Solar and Battery Storage project at the Hub

18 Dec 2024

Work has commenced on the installation of an additional 35KW of solar panels (bringing the total installed at the Hub to 55KW).In addition to the new solar panels, 27 KWh of battery capacity is being installed, which will allow the Hub to benefit from the solar energy generated well into the evenings.

During installation there may be minor disruption in the overflow carpark, but this will be kept to a minimum by the contractors, Preseli Solar.

Neyland CIC would like to thank both Community Interest Care and Valero for their generation donations toward the cost of the project (£12,000 and £10,000 respectively) and also recognise the contribution of the UK Government funded Shared Prosperity Fund which is provide a 50% grant toward the costs.

Once completed and operating, alongside our existing solar panels, we anticipate the new system will provide the majority of our peak summer electricity and between 30% and 40% of our total electricity requirement each year.

In addition to the electricity bill savings it’s estimated the project will also reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 5.7 tonnes per annu.
